Properties and types of fluoroplastics
There are many types of fluoropolymer coatings on the market. As professionals, we always ensure that our range contains only the best PTFE non-stick coatings, which guarantee a non-stick coating, facilitate cleaning of the coated surfaces and protect them from corrosion. We only use coatings from well-known manufacturers such as Chemours, PPG, Daikin, Solvay, Arkema, Ilag, Everlube, DowCorning, Klüber or Weilburger.
Xylan coating
Xylan coatings increase the resistance of the coated materials to abrasion, all types of contamination, extreme temperatures and chemicals. Xylan is the general trade name for fluoropolymer coatings (types of Teflon coatings: PTFE, FEP, PFA, and ETFE) used in many industries. They reduce friction – two friction elements covered with xylan do not require oils, greases or other lubricating elements. The coated elements do not absorb water and have oleophobic properties. Machine elements coated with Xylan and Xylan plus also have a high level of corrosion resistance, which significantly extends the service life of the coated parts or machine elements.
Halar coating
The ECTFE coating under the Halar label is made by Solvay. ECTFE is a thermoplastic fluoropolymer used as a coating material and better known under the trade name Halar®. We use it as corrosion protection in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. ECTFE coatings are particularly suitable for applications in which the highest chemical resistance is required even at elevated operating temperatures. We coat tanks with it as chemical protection. In the chemical industry in particular, these coatings are used in containers, tanks and pipes. Due to the aggressive effects of acids and bases, the Halar® coating can be over 1 mm thick. Only such a layer thickness protects the surface of tanks, pipes and containers from corrosion.
NonStick One ™ coating
The coating we have developed is the sum of our many years of experience. It retains its durability, corrosion resistance, low friction and non-stick properties even under the toughest conditions. We offer many types of Teflon coatings, but some say it is the most durable non-stick coating in the world. We use electrostatic powder. This process consists in applying a Teflon coating in the form of a powder to a surface that has been mechanically and chemically prepared beforehand. The fluoropolymer particles become electrostatically charged while the coated surface is grounded, causing the particles to adhere to the surface of the product. Then the product goes into the oven, where the fluoropolymer liquefies at high temperature and creates a permanent non-stick coating.
PTFE coating
The PTFE coating is characterized by the highest operating temperature of all fluoropolymers up to + 260 ° C. Lowest coefficient of friction. Good abrasion and chemical resistance complete the list of benefits. We use it in the printing, machine, food, paper, textile and packaging industries. The PTFE non-stick layer is most often sprayed on. It is applied by throwing small drops of PTFE from the gun under high pressure.
PFA coating
Like FEP’s, PFA (perfluoroalkoxy) non-stick coatings melt and flow during baking to create non-porous films however PFA’s have a higher continuous use temperature (260°C), higher film thickness and are harder than PTFE’s and FEP’s. This non-stick coating can be used in the food industry. We use it to protect the sealing plates in the automatic packaging lines in Variovac stamping foil. The modified PFA coating we use guarantees long and trouble-free operation thanks to its increased abrasion resistance. The PFA coating is applied to the surface with a special gun. The painted elements are then placed in our oven, where the powder is melted and polymerized under the influence of a high temperature of 400°C. Thanks to this process, a surface is obtained that is resistant to the negative effects of chemical factors and ensures its non-stick properties.
FEP coating
Like PFA, we polymerize FEP during baking in our oven, which gives us a pore-free PTFE surface and increased penetration resistance. In addition to its excellent chemical resistance, it is characterized by high dielectric strength. The whole thing is complemented by a high operating temperature of 200°C, excellent non-stick properties and a low coefficient of friction. Some substances are easy to clean despite sticking. We often use it in the food industry as a cover for mixers, rollers or chutes. It guarantees easy cleaning and adhesion of loose products to the slide walls.
ETFE coating
The ETFE coating is a copolymer that results from the polymerization of ethylene and terafluoroethylene monomers. It is characterized by an exceptionally high chemical resistance. We use it wherever the corrosion resistance of the coating is required. The ETFE coating we apply protects the covered surfaces of the tanks from the effects of acids and bases. The interior of the ETFE-coated tank is resistant to aggressive organic and inorganic chemicals and solvents over a wide temperature range. To properly protect the surface of the tank, we apply ETFE powder by spraying many layers of ETFE coating in an electrostatic field until the desired thickness of the protective layer is 800 µm to 1200 µm.
